Arsenal Consider Swoop For Juventus Star As They Look For New Centre Half

Arsenal have enquired about Juventus defender Daniele Rugani, according to reports in Italy.

The Gunners look to have secured a deal for one centre-back already in Saint-Etienne’s William Saliba, but the 18-year-old is expected to return on loan to the French club for next season.

It means Arsenal remain light at the back heading into the new campaign, especially with captain Laurent Koscielny looking destined to leave the club.

Rugani is an Italian international but he is now way down the pecking order at Juve following the arrival of Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax.

In addition to the Dutch international, Rugani will have to contend with Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci, as well as Merih Demiral.

The 24-year-old only made 20 appearances in all competitions under previous manager Max Allegri and his game time is unlikely to improve under new coach Maurizio Sarri.

Arsenal won’t be the only club in for Rugani, though, with Roma and AC Milan also having registered an interest in the Italian international.
