Fiorentina goalkeeper Alban Lafont has spoken out about reports linking him with a move to Arsenal.
The France Under 20 international has been reported as a long-term target for the Gunners, and when asked whether he would be interested in a move to the Emirates in the future, the 19-year-old said:
“Arsenal? I am very happy to be in Fiorentina and I am convinced that I will be able to grow more and more here, to get to where I am as far as possible and the national team is one of my big dreams”.
Lafont only joined Fiorentina in the summer for €7m from Toulouse and since then, Arsenal have also signed a goalkeeper of their own in Bernd Leno.
It does seem unlikely that the London club would be interested in signing another shot-stopper either in the January transfer window or at the end of the season.
However, with Petr Cech’s contract expiring in the summer, chief scout Sven Mislintat may well consider Lafont as a possible option to provide competition for Leno.
Since moving to Serie A, the Frenchman has made seven appearances in the league, conceding five goals and keeping three clean sheets.
