Arsenal ‘in talks’ to sign £26 million Italy international

Arsenal and Chelsea are in talks to sign Atalanta midfielder Bryan Cristante this summer, according to reports.

Sky Sports report the player’s representatives are in talks with both clubs about bringing the 23-year-old to London ahead of next season.

Cristante spent last season on-loan with Atalanta, where he impressed with his dazzling displays from midfield – scoring 12 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions.

The Serie A side possess the option to buy the Italy international permanently this summer from parent club Benfica, however should they not, Arsenal and Chelsea will be first in line to snatch up the former AC Milan youngster.

Benfica are looking to sell on Cristante this summer as they look to cash in on the highly-rated midfielder before his contract at the Stadium of Light runs out next summer.

Cristante was called up to the Italy national team for the first time late last year for World Cup qualifiers against both Macedonia and Albania, however he will not be appearing at this summer’s tournament after Italy failed to qualify.
