Arsenal Make Bid For Portuguese Ace

Arsenal are widely reported to have made a bid for Portuguese wonder-kid Pedro Neto. The 17 year-old is a product of S.C. Braga’s youth academy and has risen through the ranks to the first-team squad, where he made his debut last season despite his tender age.

Neto’s emergence for Braga has seen him gain attention from clubs across Europe, as well as enabling him to be capped by Portugal’s Under-17s and Under-18s. The youngster, born in 2000 is tipped for stardom and has been praised as one of Portugal’s highest rated youngsters according to Jose Mourinho who is also interested in signing the forward for Manchester United.

Reports in Portugal have stated that despite the host of top clubs chasing the youngsters signature, Arsenal are actively chasing the transfer and according to A Bola the Gunners have made a bid of around £13m for his services. However, that has apparently been rejected and Braga’s club chief Antonio Salvador is holding out for Neto’s £17.6m (€20m) release fee.

Neto is contracted to Braga until 2020 and the club are believed to want to hold onto the teenager and put him on a larger contract to increase his release clause.
