Arsenal are close to signing Brighton defender Ben White, according to Football.London. The website reports that the deal is “nearing completion” with only a few details needing to be “ironed out.”

This contradicts some of the reports in the English tabloids this morning. It has been claimed that Everton are willing to put £50m on the table for White, with another £5m in add-ons, while the Gunners have yet to up their offer from £42m plus bonuses.

However, Football.London believe White is keen on moving to the Emirates, and a deal will be finalised once the 23-year-old’s participation in the European Championships with England comes to an end.

One note of caution about this report. Jadon Sancho is on the verge of completing a move to Manchester United despite being at the Euros, so it doesn’t make a lot of sense to claim that White’s involvement in the tournament is the only thing holding him back from signing on the dotted line.
