£44m Rated La Liga Star Speaks Out On Arsenal Interest After Being Watched By Emery

Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey says he isn’t thinking about leaving the La Liga club.

The Ghanaian international has been linked with moves to Arsenal and Manchester United in recent months, with Gunners boss Unai Emery having recently watched him in action against Levante.

However, speaking whilst on international duty, Thomas said he is content with his playing time at Atletico:

“I don’t know what the future holds for me but as long as I play and they are happy with me here then there is no need flirting with others.”

“So the only thing that would make me unhappy will be not playing. I think most footballers can understand that not playing is the greatest torture any professional footballer can go through.”

Thomas has made 42 appearances in all competitions for Atletico this season, scoring three goals and providing six assists.

There was speculation earlier in the season about the 25-year-old’s future after manager Diego Simeone opted to use him less frequently, but he went on to make 30 starts for the Spanish side.

Thomas reportedly has a release clause of €50m (£44m), which Arsenal would be unlikely to pay in full if reports of their limited transfer budget are to be believed.

In any case, any deal would likely happen later in the transfer window with the midfielder playing for Ghana at the African Cup of Nations.
