Arsenal have made an enquiry for Sporting Lisbon left-back Nuno Mendes, according to O Jogo. The Portuguese publication claims that Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta is keen on adding the 18-year-old to his squad to provide competition for Kieran Tierney.
At the moment, it is believed that Sporting are sticking to their guns, demanding any club matches the teenager’s €45m (£40m) release clause. The Portuguese side are likely banking on competition from other teams for the defender.
O Jogo also report that Liverpool and Manchester United have both identified Mendes as a target, while AC Milan had a €15m (£13.5m) offer rejected earlier this summer.
