Shooting accuracy isn’t everything, though, when it comes to being a striker. Being able to score goals from unlikely positions or when shooting under pressure is another indicator that you are an excellent finisher.
If we compare a striker’s actual scoring record with xG (specifically non-penalty xG), we can see how good a finisher someone is. Over the course of last season, Lacazette recorded a score of +2.6 when we subtract xG from the number of goals he scored, meaning he is finishing better than the average player. Abraham’s score, though, was -0.4.
