£34m Rated Brazilian Midfield Enforcer Confirms Transfer Talks Amid Arsenal Interest

Athletico Paranaense midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has confirmed that there are a number of clubs in talks to sign him. Arsenal, Benfica and Lyon are all said to be interested in the 22-year-old but the Brazilian says he has yet to decide where he will be moving to:

“What I asked my agents was that the transfer is good for me and for Athletico Paranaense. I know that clubs are in talks… it’s difficult to choose. They are all great teams.”

It was reported in Brazil that the Gunners’ move for Guimaraes has stalled due to issues over third party ownership. Athletico Paranaense are keen to keep hold of some of the player’s ownership rights as they believe he could be worth a lot more in the future.

However, Premier League rules state that Arsenal would have to buy the player outright. With that being the case, it means the London club would likely have to pay the midfielder’s €40m (£34m) buyout clause.

At this stage, though, it seems Guimaraes has not ruled any club out of the race, but it is very likely that his future will be resolved before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
