33 Cap Brazilian Ace ‘Unconvinced’ By Arsenal Switch As Competition From Two Other PL Clubs Emerges

Lyon attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta is “unconvinced” about making the switch to Arsenal, according to L’Equipe.

The French publication reports that the Gunners are not currently favourites for the 24-year-old’s signature, with Manchester City and Tottenham said to be the frontrunners.

It has been suggested that the Gunners wouldn’t make a bid for Paqueta until the player signalled his interest in moving to the Emirates, and this latest development may explain why the London club have backed away from pursuing him.

Lyon are believed to be willing to sell the Brazilian, who has 33 caps for his country, although the impending arrival of the French club’s new owner may lead to that stance changing soon.

Whatever the case, it appears Paqueta is no longer a primary target for Arsenal. Technical director Edu had already played down the chances of signing the player, but this latest development will certainly disappoint fans who were hoping that another midfielder would be recruited this summer.
