£18m Rated Portuguese International Issues Come And Get Me Plea To Arsenal

Porto captain Danilo Pereira has said he would like to play for Arsenal if the opportunity arises. The Portuguese international is looking for a new challenge and after praising head coach Mikel Arteta, he feels his game would suit what the Spaniard is looking for in a midfielder:

“The style I think I can fit there, the way he plays also thinking on the ball, the team always has to be together – I think it is a good way to play.”

“Of course I like to be here in Porto to be here in my country, but I want to be in a better league like the Premier League.”

“I always dreamed about playing in that league. I played also in Serie A but I think the Premier League is a huge league and one day I want to play there, to improve to be a better player. I think it’s the best league in the world.”

It is believed that Danilo is being eyed as a potential alternative to Thomas Partey. With The Ghanaian having a €50m (£45.5m) release clause, Arsenal have reportedly looked at the Porto star who is available for just €20m (£18m).

Much like Partey, Danilo is a physically imposing presence and would add the extra steel and experience that Arteta is said to be looking for in central midfield.

The Gunners are still, though, believed to be waiting on a decision from Partey about his future. The 27-year-old has yet to decide whether to sign a new contract at Atletico or leave at the end of the season.
