£18m Rated Argentinian Starlet Reveals He is “Proud” To Be Linked With Arsenal Switch

River Plate midfielder Exequiel Palacios says he has a sense of pride in the fact that both Arsenal and Real Madrid are interested in signing him.

The Gunners have reportedly been tracking the 20-year-old this summer, and when asked about the transfer speculation, the Argentinian international said:

“I’m proud clubs like Real Madrid and Arsenal are interested in me.”

Palacios apparently has an £18m release clause and was reportedly close to a move to Real Madrid last summer before the transfer collapsed.

However, the midfielder’s agent Renato Corsi revealed last month that the Spanish champions had in fact not been in contact about a deal.

At the time, only Inter Milan had registered their interest in Palacios, but no club have made a formal approach for the player.

The midfielder made his debut for the Argentina national team back in September and made 20 appearances in all competitions last season for River Plate, scoring one goal and providing five assists.

Palacios missed two months of the campaign with a fractured fibula and will not be playing at this month’s Copa America after picking up another injury.
