Arsenal reportedly remain in talks with several Italian clubs to offload Lucas Torreira on an initial loan deal, which could lead to a sale further down the line.
However, it is believed the Gunners won’t make the £26m they paid for the Uruguayan back. In contrast, Chelsea are close to agreeing a deal with AC Milan for Tiemoue Bakayoko to leave on loan, with the Rossoneri having the option to buy for £27m.
Supporters on Twitter cannot understand why their club cannot negotiate better transfer fees, especially as they feel Torreira is a much better player than Bakayoko:
It’s ridiculous. Torreira is 10x the player Bakayako was for Chelsea.

100% down to the difference in physical profiles. If Torreira was 6ft 2 we’d get £40M minimum

It’s surprising how our Arsenal fan base never understood the mediocrity in the transfer businesses after witnessing the same year after year.

We never had a brain at selling players. That's one of the reason we don't have money. We are too dependant on the sales.

Chelsea do have someone called Marina Granovskaia, who is believed to be an exceptional negotiator, and that certainly plays a part. However, it also must be pointed out that, unlike the Blues, clubs know Arsenal are short of cash and they will deliberately make lowball offers in the hope that the club will be prepared to accept them.
