Arsenal have agreed a £3m fee with Sao Paulo to sign winger Marquinhos, according to Goal’s Gunners correspondent Charles Watts.
The London club have exploited a loophole in the 19-year-old’s contract which has allowed them to secure the player’s services for a low price, and he is expected to become Mikel Arteta’s first summer signing.
A majority of fans on Twitter are excited by the prospect of Arsenal recruiting Marquinhos, although others are not so convinced, with some questioning why the club are signing another Brazilian:
1 in already , love to see it ♥️♥️

Could be another Gabriel Martinelli or maybe another Wellington Silva! Either way for that price he’s worth a punt. Wish him all the best once the move is completed

Whether he will turn out to be another Gabriel Martinelli, we shall have to wait and see. Technical director Edu does know the Brazilian market very well so you wouldn’t put it past him finding another hidden gem.
Marquinhos is not expected to be part of the first team squad straight away but, if he impresses enough during the preseason, he could see some game time next campaign.
