Will Wenger Take This Low Cost Opportunity?

As previously mentioned, Wenger’s transfer strategy might point towards the fact that he is not interested in a new striker of any sorts. He passed on the opportunity to bring in Gignac, Tevez and Destro who were not linked to the Gunners in any way which is a bit strange considering how the season ended suggesting the Gunners were in need of some fresh firepower. It looks like Sanogo might not be the lucky player to be selected as an option for Arsenal’s attack. Apparently, The Gunners are pondering signing 28 year old Luiz Adriano who is in his last year of contact with Shakhtar where things are not looking good for any of the current players mostly because of the conflict in Ukraine. With this in mind, Wenger will most definitely be able to get a massive cut when it comes to the transfer fee, with a price tag as low as £5.5million announced by the Sunday Express.

Luiz Adriano has been with playing for the team from Donetsk for almost 8 years now and is about to end his contractual responsibilities in December. In 265 games he managed to score 128 goals and provide 43 assists which is a great rate considering Shakhtar has been a constant presence in the Champions League and Europa League as well. He has the experience, the skill and the physique to play in the Premier League and is very possibly more efficient than Welbeck at this point in time. Arsenal will not have to spend anything also as Podolski is about to leave and will probably cover both Adriano’s wage and transfer fee.
