Will Arsenal Spend Big To Add A Quality Forward?

Will Arsenal Spend Big To Add A Quality Forward?

The Gunners are going through a bit of a loss of form as history seems to be repeating itself again. Wenger’s boys were in the top 2 at the beginning of the week but dropped to 4th after last week’s games against Everton and City. Anyone who watches Arsenal knows that they seem to have their best chance in ages of claiming a big prize like the Premier League or the Champions League.

Arsenal may be missing a player or two before they can truly say the lot is complete. There is a slight chance that Wenger will fill in the gaps as soon as this January as there are some big names which might become available if not right away then at the end of the 2016-2017 season.

Here are the 3 players who would make a difference if Arsene Wenger brings them to the Emirates:

  1. Marco Reus: the German international is without a doubt one of the best forwards in the world. He is incredibly versatile up front but shines as a left winger. He would fit in perfectly at Arsenal where he has Ozil, Mustafi and Mertesacker to help with the acclimatisation part. He is under contract with Dortmund until 2019 but the challenge of playing outside of the Bundesliga could be enough of a reason for him to leave. The problem with him is that he might be tempted to work with Klopp again and if Liverpool qualifies for the Champions League, there’s a big chance to see Reus heading to Anfield. On the other hand, if Liverpool is not an option for him, it’s hard to believe he would prefer to play under anyone else than Wenger.

  2. Dimitri Payet is another player who could end up at the Emirates in January. The 29-year-old Frenchman who had an excellent season, European championship included, should move now if he plans on ever claiming a big trophy. West Ham are struggling in 13th place and Payet is not getting any younger. Out of all the big teams he could sign for, Arsenal would offer him the biggest chance to continue playing on a regular basis as the left wing is a place where the Gunners could use some depth, as Metro report.
  3. Julian Draxler, who is probably a bit more available than Reus, is the attacking midfielder who apparently agreed to sign with PSG but might still have a chance to move to the Emirates. If the Gunners are ready to meet Wolfsburg’s financial expecations, Arsenal fans could be getting their Christmas present in January in the form of another World Cup winner.

There are two more names worth mentioning which are those of Real Madrid midfielders James Rodriguez and Isco. Both are extremely talented and young enough to adapt to the Premier League. The problem with them is that there’s no burning need for Arsenal to sign them as they already have a bunch of creative players. Not sure what Wenger would do with either of the two. Any of the three mentioned above would be a plus. If Wenger finds the funds to sign Payet, Reus or Draxler then the squad would get a big boost as well as sending a message to Arsenal’s title rivals.
