Will Arsenal Benefit From Finally Getting These 4 Players Back?

Good news for Arsenal who might be finally getting a full fit squad by the beginning of February.

The only player who could be unlikely to make any appearances in the second part of the season is Santi Cazorla whose return date is set around the middle of March. Other than that, all players should be fit by early February.

Let’s have a look at what they went through and also at what the will bring to the table after such long absences.

The most awaited return is that of Shkodran Mustafi who is now suffering from a hamstring injury picked up at the beginning of the month. If all goes well he should be back on the pitch for the FA Cup when Arsenal will be facing Preston NE. The timing is excellent as the German international could use an easy game before being 100% fit to face teams like Chelsea and Bayern Munich. For sure his return will contribute most to Arsenal’s game.

Another awaited return is that of Per Mertesacker who hasn’t played for Arsenal since the 21st of July. He is expected to return in early January. According to Metro he is already back in training but needs time to get match fit.

Unfortunately, the 32-year-old is unlikely to be featured in many of the Premier League games left out of this season. He will probably play the FA Cup games plus filling in if needed in the League. There are rumors of Mertesacker returning to Germany after his Arsenal contract expires so keep an eye on him as this might be his final season at the Emirates.

Aaron Ramsey is already fit but he can easily be added to the list of returning players as his presence on the pitch was on and off during the past couple of months. Euro 2016 really affected his physical integrity but hopefully this time spent in recovery will allow him to be available for the rest of the season.

Debuchy will also return mid-January but he is sort of the same situation as Mertesacker. It is very likely to only see him in the FA Cup before leaving the Emirates for good.

Last but not least there’s Danny Welbeck who is expected to make the bench by around the 22nd of January. As much as any Arsenal fan wants to see him back fit, there is doubt over his future as injuries seem to affect his career over and over again. He has been sidelined since May 2016 and it is hard to believe he will make many 1st team appearances as we are half-way into the season.
