Who Is Going To Be Wenger’s Second Transfer Of The Summer?

Hopefully Cech will not be the only big-time transfer Arsenal make this summer. Even though Wenger looks to be following a pattern in which he signs one big name every summer, hopes are high in terms of movement on the market. There is a very long list of transfers just waiting to be made, but none look as sure as Cech’s did for the past week. Now that the keeper position is more than secure, the Gunners need to focus on maybe finding a striker and a defensive midfielder.

According to ESPN, despite Coquelin’s excellent performances, Wenger is keen on bringing in highly rated William Carvalho from Sporting ahead of Southampton’s Schneiderlin. The 23 year old who has been linked to Arsenal for the past 2 years is under contract with the Portuguese side for three more years according to his contract but could be sold given Sporting’s financial issues. With a market value of £20 million, Carvalho is also targeted by Manchester United who were rumored to be keen on strengthening the midfield with someone similarly strong to Fellaini.

It is to be seen if something will happen though considering the fact that Arsenal have always kept it tight and never overdid it in terms of squad members. Currently, the Gunners do have a strong lot but it will be incredibly risky to start the new season with Coquelin for example as the only defensive midfielder fast and strong enough to perform in the Champions League.
