Where Will Oxlade-Chamberlain Fit In This Season?

Wenger has a tough decision to make as Oxlade-Chamberlain tends to shine when he is not injured and is sent on the pitch. The problem is that he is in competition with Ozil and Sanchez who will be close to impossible to push towards the bench. The German would be the obvious sacrifice but that will only happen if he starts messing up big time. Being the most expensive player in the club’s history comes with its perks, one of which is that he gets to play sometimes regardless of his lack of form. Ozil mostly plays down the left which is not Chamberlain’s favorite position, assuming he replaced the German.

The other player the 22-year-old could replace is Sanchez. He already did the left wing justice against Chelsea and replaced the Chilean successfully during his recovery period. Unfortunately, if the Copa America winner does perform at the same standard as last year, Chamberlain will have to work 10 times harder to replace last season’s club top scorer.

After Oxlade-Chamberlain’s recent excellent performance for his national team, pressure is growing on Wenger who is being urged to play the youngster more often. Some even went as far as to say that Arsenal’s boss is holding the winger back by not allowing him to be a team regular. It remains to be seen what will happen with this former rugby player who in most people’s opinion, should be an automatic starter at least for the next game against Stoke.
