Were Rumors Linking Arsenal With Two Leicester Players True?

Vardy’s Twitter feed has created some strong reactions especially among those who were waiting on the Leicester striker to sign with Arsenal. According to Metro, the 29-year-old wanted to calm things down ahead of Euro 2016 (which could be his last and only chance to shine for England) by changing his Twitter page background to an image of his current club raising the Premier League trophy. Some rumors had it that even Roy Hodgson insisted that something needs to be done in order to help Vardy concentrate on his game rather than on his next club. What the England international did might have worked as now everyone is saying that he will turn down the Gunners and stay with the Foxes. It would be a pity to see him pass on such a great chance to join a club as big as Arsenal. Hopefully what he did, he did out of respect for Leicester and out of the desire to direct some of the attention onto other players as well.

It looks like it worked. News now say that Arsenal’s interest was actually in Riyad Mahrez rather than Vardy. It would be amazing to see both move to Emirates this summer despite the fact that they will be facing tough competition and despite the fact that no one guarantees they will have the same efficiency when playing under the pressure that comes with putting on the Red and White shirt. Nonetheless having the two players who last season produced 42 goals and 18 assists in all competitions would be a massive boost for Arsenal’s attack.

Mahrez could be a solution for the right wing where Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain had a hard time standing out due to injury. The 25-year-old will not join the Gunners sooner than the end of Euro 2016. Why? Because he is probably waiting on the rest of his colleagues to see what happens. Kante, Vardy, Drinkwater and Albrighton have made it to the transfer lists of some important teams with budgets that could crush any counter offer made by Leicester. If 2 or 3 of these players leave, it will be incredibly complicated for Ranieri’s team to get close to the top 4. Even though it`s a cruel scenario, things like these happen. We will just have to wait and see what happens to Leicester’s key players at the end of July. Hopefully at least one of these two amazing attacking players decides to take on a new challenge and sign with Arsenal
