Wenger’s Horrible Night

Wenger’s Horrible Night

On a night that many thought would be the springboard for Arsenal to get into the quarter-finals of Europe’s Premier Club competition, the Gunners fired blanks and were completely outclassed by a young Monaco side who came with a plan and delivered a clinical perfomance. Even Wenger could only agree with the Sky Sports reporter who called it a horrible night for Arsenal who were beaten 3-1 on the night. Monaco were lead by former North London rival and Premier League legend, Dimitar Berbatov who was class throughout and scored a goal which wreaked of skill and most importantly composure as he beat Ospina with an excellent right footed drive from just inside the box.

Monaco were arguably the better side througout except for perhaps the first 10 mins of the first half. In the last 10 mins, when Oxlade-Chamberlin came on for Coquelin it looked like a great substitution as the Ox curled in a sweet strike from outside the box only for the same player to lose possession after the restart which lead to Carrasco going down the right flank and then beating Ospina just inside his right-hand post with an-inch perfect powerful right footed drive to break Gooner hearts and perhaps put the Champions League off the menu for yet another year unfortunately.
