Wenger Wanted By Monaco Despite Extension

AS Monaco are interested in the services of Arsene Wenger, despite the manager confirming his future with Arsenal by signing a lucrative contract extension over the summer after the FA Cup win, according to the Daily Mail.

Wenger has been previously poached by French giants Paris Saint Germain when Carlo Ancelotti left the club for Real Madrid, but the veteran boss declined the approach showing patience with the London based club. With little or no silverware over the last decade, Wenger and his squad felt a sense of frustration, leaving a sense of negativity in the camp. However, the FA Cup win last season and the Community Shield at the start of the campaign has left Arsenal supporters, Wenger and the squad with renewed hope for the immediate future. With players like Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck joining the project over the summer, Arsenal look lethal in attack, and with Theo Walcott coming back into the lineup soon, Wenger will have several combinations to spread over all competitions.

Monaco approached Wenger in August, and have maintained relations with the manager. A £10 million-a-year tax-free deal was also on the cards if the manager decided to make the shift to the principality, but a productive summer in transfers prompted the boss to give another shot at the title. Arsenal are active over all the competitions, and could be in the running for a trophy if they perform consistently from hereon.
