Despite having major squad issues, Wenger stated he will not be signing any new players this winter. This will come as a shock for most who expected the Frenchman to sign at least two defenders. The Gunners have been improvising for quite a while now which cost them a spot in the top 5. Strangely enough, after losing to Stoke, Wenger actually pointed out the fact that the squad is too thin and that the team needs reinforcements. Since then he seems to have changed his mind. He decided not to make any new bids and wait for the injured players to recover. According to Metro, Wenger was very confident Arsenal have the necessary people to win trophies which is a bit strange when you need to use Monreal as a central defender and have at least 4 players just coming out of the recovery period.

Maybe the Frenchman is planning on sacrificing this season in order to start fresh next year. Whatever his plans are, he will not be able to compete with Chelsea, City or Manchester for that matter.
