Wenger Not To Be Compared With Anyone

Borussia Dortmund’s Jurgen Klopp is set to leave Germany at the end of the season. After a somewhat disastrous year with the former Champions League finalists, the 47 year old is looking for a new challenge which some say, should come from the Emirates. One of Klopp’s strongest supporters is Piers Morgan who, according to Metro, apparently believes the German is definitely a better fit for Arsenal than Wenger is. But is he?

Some may argue that Wenger has been with Arsenal for too long and that a change is needed. The Frenchman has been with the club since October 1996 and just reached the 1000 game milestone. What most don’t know though is the fact that Arsene Wenger has one of the best success rates when compared to others. Out of the incredible number of matches he has had to prepare for, he has managed to win 57,6% and draw 22,7%. Klopp’s current rate shows he has only won 49.4% of almost 600 games.

Even though others may say Klopp was bound to have a lower winning rate due to the fact he managed Mainz and Dortmund while Wenger had Arsenal, it would be safe to say that the Frenchman has had a more difficult job at keeping his rates up over such a large number of games. Spending so many years in the Premier League and playing in the Champions League is definitely something to consider. While the German manager often faced only Bundesliga sides, Arsenal had to repeatedly compete with Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, City and Tottenham while facing Barcelona, Juventus or Bayern Munich in the European Competitions.

One more thing worth mentioning is the fact that Wenger has improved and changed over the years. The last couple of seasons showed he is willing to spend big while at the same time be smart and make proper investments. He is also one of the greatest talent seekers in the world and one amazing strategist. Replacing him with Klopp would be an unnecessary gamble at best.
