Wenger Needs To Make Some Major Transfers

Losing against Klopp is not the only problem Wenger has to handle. Ramsey and Iwobi picked up injuries as well thus deepening the injury crisis at the Emirates. The Frenchman blamed it on the lack of recovery time.  According to The Guardian Wenger said: “We pushed players today like Ramsey. It is an impossible situation to get players back from the Euros and prepare. We played a very good first half and were unlucky to concede a goal just before half-time and after that, we paid for a lack of experience. We are not ready physically.

“You are in a catch-22 situation with the Euros, whether to give players a rest who need it. They are not ready to play this sort of game and get injured, like Ramsey, or you give them a rest and not have them for the start. You have to consider, as well, that we have been unlucky with losing Mertesacker and Gabriel, and having Koscielny not fit.”

Aside from all this, there’s also a problem up front where Sanchez and Walcott alone are being asked to fill in the gaps left by Giroud and Welbeck.

There are two moves that would be of so much help for Arsenal. The two transfers are that of Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette and Valencia’s Shkodran Mustafi. The first would surely boost the attack. The Frenchman is in great form as seen in his debut against Nancy on Sunday. The 25-year-old scored 3 goals and showed he is one of Europe’s best. He even hinted towards a possible move in a post-game interview. The second transfer is just as important as Holding and Chambers had a rough time playing next to each other. Mustafi’s transfer to the Emirates looked a sure thing a couple of days back, but seems to have hit a rut due to Valencia’s financial expectations. The Spanish club is trying to get as close as they can to the release-clause integrated in the defender’s contract.

There is clearly time left in the transfer window but the sooner moves are made the more time the players have to get integrated into the Gunners’ set-up. No one will blame Wenger if he fails to land the biggest names or if the transfers turn out to be less than expected as long as he at least makes some moves.
