Wenger Looking To Add Attacking Depth?

First Alexis Sanchez started out as a right-winger, he then moved to the left and now is Arsenal’s main goal man in the middle. The right wing is dominated by Walcott, which leaves the left wing where Iwobi has delivered some solid performances and Oxlade-Chamberlain struggled as he is used to playing on the right. Ramsey and Ozil have done decent jobs on the left but it is clear it is not their place on the pitch.

To strengthen the left side of attack, Wenger might reportedly return to a previous target of his who was very, very close to moving to the Emirates if not for the exaggerated asking price coming from his previous club. We are talking here about German international Julian Draxler who according to the Sun, has failed to settle at Wolfsburg. It was a strange move for him considering he was one of the top targets in Europe back in 2015. Everyone expected the youngster to move to the Premier League but he instead chose a sideways move to Wolfsburg.

Apparently, the many departures that happened this summer at Wolfsburg, especially that of Schurrle contributed in a negative way to the settling in process thus turning Draxler towards a new plan. The club seems to be on the same page as the 23-year-old which means they are willing to sell. Even if Draxler is considered by many a number 10, he would surely do a good job as a left winger. Wenger wanted him for that specific position and the good news regarding this move is that it could happen in January. The bad news is that Draxler is injured and there’s no return date at the moment. If he returns to full fitness as expected, Arsenal would still get a lot from such a transfer. Maybe the rumors linking Draxler to the Gunners will finally come true.
