Wenger Keen On Signing Young African Talent

Wenger Keen On Signing Young African Talent

Wenger is going head to head with Roma in order to sign one of the most promising players to Emerge from the African continent. Egyptian international Ramadan Sobhy who is currently with El Ahly Cairo was on Arsenal’s list since February when he received an invite to try out for the Gunners’ academy. The playmaker’s representatives denied him the chance to make a first important step towards European football and closed all discussions with the Londoners. According to Metro, El Ahly are willing to sit down and talk even if the player is under contract until 2020.

Signing Sobhy would make sense if he is indeed the best player from the African continent. He is versatile and mature right now considering he is only 18. With some work Wenger could turn him into a great left winger which is a problematic position for Arsenal. The youngster is highly rated but relatively unknown which will make it easier for the Gunners to sign him. Apparently they will have to battle it out with Roma who are also interested in securing his services.

Player profile

Name: Ramadan Sobhy

Club: El Ahly Cairo

Foot: right

Preferred Position – Left Wing

Sobhy looks like a unique player. He has a very distinctive style which is visible especially while executing free kicks. He has pace and excellent dribbling speed for such a young player. He looks very determined on the pitch but might not be ready to face the pressure of a Premier League Match as Fabregas, Wilshere or Walcott were back when they were this young. It is always hard to tell how well players like him will do if they come to an important European club but that is Wenger’s job to decide if the Egypt international is worth focusing on.
