Wenger Flies Out Of London On Deadline Day

Arsene Wenger decided to fly to Italy to attend a charity match on transfer deadline day, leaving the club supporters perplexed about their side’s chances of making a signing before the end of the window, after seeing rivals like Manchester United spending big to bring in Radamel Falcao, as the Daily Mail reported.

Arsenal have always been cautious spenders in transfer windows, and even though they have spent big on players like Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil in the recent past, the supporters expect the squad to be challenging for top honours this season. Wenger has been unfortunate with many injuries ruining the balance of the squad, after an attacking crisis struck the Emirates Stadium this season. A similar situation threatened the club last season, with the weakness in the defensive department on that occasion. Arsenal were challenging Manchester City and Chelsea for the Barclays Premier League crown, until injuries hit and left the club wounded for the second half of the campaign. Supporters want to see a similar challenge for the entire season, but it is difficult to understand how that would be possible given the situation with the club’s attackers. Olivier Giroud has been sidelined, and Theo Walcott is still a long way from recovery, leaving Wenger with Yaya Sanogo as the only fit striker to lead the line.

Wenger leaving London on such an important Monday is something that likely will not please many supporters very much.

**UPDATE** It seems Danny Welbeck is joining Arsenal so Arsene Wenger has stuck to his last minute club policy and landed a young striker from Man United who can lead the line and still has alot of potential to fulfil. Still to be confirmed absolutely it seems as of 00:55 on 2/9/14 with the Falcao deal still to be confirmed absolutely too according to SkySportsNewsHQ.

**FURTHER UPDATE** Both deals are completed. Danny Welbeck signs for Arsenal on a long-term deal for a fee believed to be in the region of £16million and Radamel Falcao joins Manchester United on an initial season long loan with an option to buy for a fee of £6million reportedly.
