Wenger Comments On Wilshere’s Smoking Pictures

The 22-year-old Jack Wilshere was caught puffing a cigarette along with England colleague Joe Hart at a pool party last week, despite claiming it will not happen again last season. Wilshere was pictured smoking outside a nightclub last year and had told boss Wenger he won’t repeat his mistake.

It seems that the talented midfielder hasn’t learnt his lesson and is hell-bent on destroying his potential to be the best midfielder in the country. However, Wenger is taking a cautious approach and revealed that he would like to speak to the England international before passing any judgment.

According to the Independent, he said, “I haven’t spoken to him so it’s very difficult for me to make any statement. I know what you can make of pictures – I have to speak to him really to see what happened before I come out publicly.”

“I’m not deeply concerned by it. I just want to know what happened and before I know what happened, I don’t want to talk too much about it.”

Wenger also revealed that next season could be vital for Wilshere after suffering a loss of form mainly due to injuries. He said, “He’s at an age where you want him to move forward. He has the potential. I believe for him, the most important [thing] now is to have a good preparation and focus on getting really fit.”

“Jack is a great player – he has a football brain and he’s ambitious. I’m sure that [if] he’s injury free, he will have a great season.”
