Valencia To Block Arsenal’s Attempt At 19 Year Old Left-Back Jose Luis Gaya

Wenger’s interest for young Spanish international Jose Luis Gaya has determined Valencia to set up a plan to keep the defender on at the Mestalla. According to Talk Sport, the 19 year old will receive a massive increase in salary and will also receive a new buy-out clause which is expected to be triple the amount stipulated in his current contract. Arsenal would now have to pay £13.5m for Gaya who is considered to be worth a lot more especially if he keeps up the pace of development he has shown up to now.

The left-back, despite lacking experience, is seen as one of the most promising players in Europe. Most say he will be the next in line to take Jordi Alba’s spot. He would be great competition for Gibbs and Monreal who have lacked consistency over the years. Even though Wenger is looking for a central defender and a defensive midfielder, signing Gaya would be a well-made investment.

The Spaniard is on an ascending trend, has no injuries on his injury sheet and is already part of Valencia’s starting eleven. It will be difficult to bring him to the Emirates if Arsenal try negotiating the buy-out clause. He would make a great addition to the team though and could become a team regular as early as the beginning of March if all things go well.
