Two Rumoured Transfers Arsenal Really Don’t Need To Make

Even though Arsenal seem to have a pretty complete squad, it’s inevitable to read about rumoured possible transfers that might interest Wenger. Maybe it’s a new full-back or even a center-back. Maybe it`s a new striker or even a midfielder. These kind of rumors are mostly fueled by the injuries which threaten Arsenal’s chances at claiming trophies.

While most new arrivals may be considered good additions to the team, there are some players who despite being talented, promising, experienced or skilled, really do not seem a good fit at the Emirates.

The first would be Cesc Fabregas. Even though it may be hard for some to think about, the Spanish midfielder is no longer needed at what could have been his career team. Fabregas is not on good terms with Antonio Conte despite playing in Chelsea’s first XI this past weekend vs Man City and there aren’t many places in which he could continue his career at the same level he has been performing at up until now. According to Squawka, there is a chance of seeing Cesc back in North London as soon as this winter but only through a strange series of events. Maybe if for some reason, Wenger decides he needs an extra highly-paid midfielder to stay on the bench or maybe if God forbid, injuries decimate the whole midfield, Fabregas could be pursued. Clearly this sounds preposterous given the way he left Arsenal and given the fact that he joined rivals Chelsea. Even though the former Gunner has a lot to offer and even though he has been regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world, he does not have a place at the Emirates anymore. Xhaka, Ramsey, Ozil, Elneny, Coquelin and Cazorla when fit are more than capable of taking good care of things. There’s also Wilshere who could very well return to his parent club after he completes his loan spell at Bournemouth.

The second player who has been rumored to be on his way to North London to join Arsenal is Carlos Bacca. There is really no place for him in Arsenal’s lot either. Why bring in a 30-year-old striker when you already have Giroud and Perez as back-ups for the brilliant Alexis Sanchez? Plus Danny Welbeck is due back early next year. If power is what you need you have the Frenchman and Welbeck once he is fit again. Bacca could have trouble with the physicality of the Premier League and would be a questionable buy. Arsenal would be better sticking with what they have rather than investing big money in the Colombian who while still having a decent goals per game ratio is probably coming to the end of his peak years. Also Bacca is not known to have a great desire to play in the Premier League.

There will be numerous other rumors regarding possible arrivals as the winter transfer window approaches but these two possible transfers seem like 2 moves Wenger will not make. Hopefully injuries do not affect the team too much over the course of the season but if Arsene Wenger needs to dip into the transfer market, with any luck he manages to carry on where he left off in the summer when he certainly managed to surprise a few people with the success of his transfer dealings.
