Szczesny To Start Against Reading

Arsenal will be facing Reading on Saturday in the FA Cup semi-finals and Szczesny will be the one leading the Gunners towards the final all being well. Hopefully he will try and redeem himself after an inconsistent season in which he not only dropped in form but also had a fallout with Wenger. According to Squawka.com, this will probably be his second to last game played for the North Londoners who have set their eye on Petr Cech. The 24 year old Poland international is seen as a very surprising choice for the game against Reading. Ospina has proven to be one of the best keepers in the Premier League and impressed by managing to keep a clean sheet in half of the games he has featured in.

The news that Szczesny will be starting on Saturday was posted on Arsenal’s Twitter account and has not been that well received. Many suggested that it is a birthday gift for the Polish keeper who will be turning 25 on Saturday. The general opinion is that such a change could cost Arsenal the chance to get to the final stage of the competition which could secure the Gunners their third trophy in two years. Even though the Premier League is still on the table mathematically speaking, it is hard to believe Chelsea will slip up.

Szczesny has developed a bit of a reputation for his inconsistency. Hopefully the time spent on the bench has made him more focused. It may be a strange decision to leave out Ospina especially for such an important match but all trust lies in Wenger who probably knows best and Szczesny has been the FA Cup keeper ever since he lost the starting job to Ospina for the Premier League and Champions League so he might well follow in the footsteps of his compatriot Lukas Fabianski and win the FA Cup before moving on to another team.
