Suarez Not Ready To Stay At Liverpool
The Uruguayan’s transfer saga has dragged on for literally the entire summer. Things picked up steam as he made his wishes clear of leaving Merseyside in search of Champions League football. He was initially linked to the likes of Real Madrid and then to Arsenal, and the links with the Gunners have thus far refused to die down.
Arsenal even made their strong interest official as they made two massive bids, the last one of them being that of £40 million and £1 which was understood to attempt to meet his release clause, only to be rebuffed blatantly by Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers. Things have since lost momentum, as Arsenal have not yet made their third bid.
There were reports in the media emerging that Suarez could probably perform a dramatic U-turn and stay put at Liverpool as he was touched by the unanimous and unnerving support of the Kop faithful towards him. It was being reported that he would reject the chance to move in favor of staying at Liverpool as his gesture towards the fans.
Suarez participated and found the back of the net in Uruguay’s friendly match against Japan. He was then asked about his reported decision of staying at Liverpool post the game by Japanese agency Kyodo News, but Metro reports him as saying that the 26-year old has simply refused making such claims and giving such a comment. When asked about his comments, he refused it while preferring to concentrate on speaking solely about the Uruguay game.
He said, “I didn’t say it,”
“Maybe someone else did, [but] the main thing is that I am here now with the national team.”
With Suarez bluntly refusing making such a statement, what does this mean for this transfer saga? Does it mean that the story, which was poised to take a dramatic U-turn, will now instead proceed in its initial path, perhaps the one leading to the Emirates Stadium?
