Should Arsenal Go For Misfit Free Agent?

Wenger will have the chance to sign former AC Milan star Kevin-Prince Boateng after Schalke decided to end his contract earlier than first agreed. According to The Daily Mail, the Ghana international was expected to stay in Germany until 2016 but had a massive fallout with the club after the German side lost their most recent game against Cologne. It looks like just a matter of time until the deal is officially revoked and Boateng becomes a free agent. Even if Schalke decide to try and recover some of the money spent on the 28 year old midfielder, he will still be sold for a lot less than he would normally cost.

The big question is if Boateng is worth the effort. From a strictly sport related perspective, he would be a great addition to Arsenal’s squad. He has the strength and the aggressive playing style suited for Premier League. He is fast, he goes back and forth and can do both the defensive and the offensive plays. He still has a good 4-6 years ahead of him and has the necessary experience to handle the pressure faced by Arsenal’s players. He is affordable and could be a good replacement for Flamini and a great substitute for Coquelin.

The problem with Boateng is his behavior. He has a temper and has gone through several conflicts with a lot of his colleagues. He also has some knee problems which have been bothering him for the last 2 years. It is a pity that such a versatile and powerful midfielder has ended up being suspended by the club for which he played for the past 2 years.
