Podolski Set For Juventus Loan Switch

Lukas Podolski could be nearing the end of his Arsenal career as the club are reportedly negotiating a deal with Juventus that could see the German play for the Bianconeris on loan for the full season, according to the Daily Mail.

Arsenal traveled to Merseyside to face Everton in the Barclays Premier League last weekend, but one player who did not travel with the squad was Podolski. Arsene Wenger is developing the squad that he feels can challenge the top sides in the league this season, and Podolski does not seem to be in the manager’s plans so far. Arsenal’s squad structure means Wenger favours playing more midfielders than attackers, and the emergence of Yaya Sanogo in the squad has ensured there is no place for an attacker apart from Olivier Giroud and the midfield already has several options like Jack Wilshere, Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla.

Podolski joined the club in 2012 from FC Koln, but has been a bit-part player for Wenger, making an impression only as an impact player off the bench. Despite being chosen for Joachim Loew’s World Cup winning squad in Brazil, Podolski only made appearances in the group stages. Arsenal have already added Alexis Sanchez to their strike force for the coming season, and Theo Walcott’s return from long term injury will again likely force the German out of the starting eleven.
