Sami Khedira has been on top of Arsenal’s shopping list for a while now. Wenger sees him as the best possible alternative for the team anchor spot which has been left somewhat empty after Song decided to sign with Barcelona. According to talkSPORT, the Gunners will be trying to reach the German international on an emotional level rather than on a financial level. Recent reports have analyzed this move from different angles, with some newspapers going as far as to say that Khedira has been using Arsenal to get an increase in his salary at Real.

The fact that Arsenal have three German internationals under contract is why North London may well be more tempting than any other team. Even if Kroos was brought in this summer by Real, rumors have it that Khedira is much closer to Ozil and Podolski. The Gunners’ striker recently joked by saying there is no point in trying to convince Khedira of anything because he already knows that playing alongside three of his fellow countrymen will be a lot of fun. The fact that the four just won the World Cup is proof that Podolski might be right.

Reporters are still pretty unconvinced that Khedira will make it to Arsenal and compare the chances of the German moving to Emirates to those of Casillas signing with the North Londoners.
