Podolski Moves To Galatasaray

Arsenal have allowed striker Lukas Podolski to join Turkish club Galatasaray on a three-year deal for an initial £1.8 million. The Turkish champions will apparently pay future instalments based on their qualification for the Champions League.

The German, who is a World Cup winner, moved to Arsenal in 2012 from FC Koln for around £11m. He managed 31 goals in 82 appearances and was a favourite among a lot of fans.

Now aged 30, the forward has seen his chances limited for the north London side, especially with competition from the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Danny Welbeck, Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in contention. This meant that for the most part of 2015 he has been on loan at Inter Milan in search of more game time.

Galatasary president Dursun Aydin Ozbek said Podolski had been a long-term target.

He added: “Podolski was a player we have been following for a long time. We have met the expectations of our fans. We think he will serve us for many years.” Via BBC Sport

Podolski is a player with a wicked eye for goal, and a forward who despite being left out by Wenger for the majority of his time at the Emirates, will always be remembered fondly by fans.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish Podolski all the best in the future.
