No Money Will Make These Three Transfers Happen

Wenger’s recent inclination towards acquiring big-time players has given Arsenal fans hope that anything could happen. No one expected Ozil to come to the Emirates just as few expected to see Sanchez, Cech or Welbeck join the Gunners. There are a lot of reasons that are taken into consideration when analyzing the probability of snatching big names from big clubs, some of which were even in rivalry with Arsenal. There was always a problem with the prices, salaries, expectations and more. Even so, Wenger did bring in some players who could have gone any other way. There is a limit though in terms of how far Arsenal can reach and also in terms of how convincing Wenger can be. Here are three transfers that are never going to happen:

  1. Lionel Messi – Barcelona’s one and only is never going to join Arsenal. It is hard to believe he will ever leave Spain and that he will perform for any club other than the one that raised him. There were some rumors running around a couple of days back that he could actually move to Emirates. No such thing will happen and if it did it would mess up Arsenal’s entire vibe. There are dozens of reasons the Argentinian should not move to London one of which being his salary that could be used to pay Sanchez, Giroud, Walcott and Ozil. There are a bunch of other reasons but there is no point in analyzing them as this transfer is never going to go down.
  2. Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Apparently the Sweden star is on his way out as tension between him and PSG grows. The 34-year-old whose contract is expiring in June is looking for a new team and to be more specific, he is looking for a Premier League team. Arsenal will not be that team given his massive financial expectations, difficult character, love for Mourinho and age. Even though there are rumors of possible transfer talks, there is a 0% chance of actually seeing this brilliant striker playing for Arsenal.
  3. Paul Pogba – No matter how hard anyone tries it is very hard to convince people that Paul Pogba can actually come to Arsenal. Why is that? First he is just 22 and he is already valued at £45m. With the way he is performing right now it is very possible he will get close to Bale in terms of cost. Arsenal need to also win big trophies to convince the Frenchman to move to London. He already dominated the domestic competition with Juve and reached the Champions League final so he needs more. He needs to win the biggest competition there is. Unfortunately, Arsenal do not offer that much of a chance right now.

It is a pity that none of these players will play for Arsenal but it might also be a good thing. Even though the Gunners had major stars, they were always that sort of beautiful group rather than a one-man show. It`s a tradition and I would always have Henry, Pires, Bergkamp, Vieira, Ozil, Walcott and Sanchez over Messi, Pogba and Ibrahimovic.
