New Arsenal Owner Emerges?

Aliko Dangote who is currently estimated to be worth around £11billion, expressed his desire to someday buy a big part of Arsenal’s shares and get involved in the way the club is managed. Even though according to the Guardian, Dangote is not a big fan of Arsene Wenger and considers the Frenchman an underachiever due to the long trophy drought he oversaw, he would still like to be part of what Arsenal represent. The big question which everyone should be asking though is: “Is the extra money worth stirring up things at Emirates?”.

The club has been going down the right path since 2010 when Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith sold her shares. With Stan Kroenke and Alisher Usmanov as the two big investors, it has been quiet in North London with Wenger being left alone to do what he knows best. The two investors’ trust in the Frenchman paid off, as he managed to find a way to pay for the new stadium while fielding a competitive team. From an investor’s point of view, Wenger is the perfect manager. He spends exactly what he needs and knows how to get the most out of that. Getting Dangote involved might be a mistake as the billionaire told the press several times Arsenal need to change their way of thinking and get on a new path. He also seems like the type of investor who might want to get involved in things like transfers and team management which is rarely productive. Luckily, Kroenke and Usmanov have never hinted of a possible exit and appear to be involved in Arsenal for the long hall.
