Marcelo Brozovic On Arsenal Radar

Arsenal have begun discussions with Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Marcelo Brozovic over a £6.4 million move to the FA Cup holders, as the club plans to increase options for the manager through the winter period, according to the Daily Mail.

Different managers operate in the Barclays Premier League using different managerial philosophies, and Arsene Wenger is known to be one who particularly prefers to keep a strong midfield. However, while Arsenal have had some of the most creative players like Cesc Fabregas and Aarom Ramsey take the field at the Emirates Stadium over the past few years, the defensive midfield has been a spot of bother for the London based club. Alex Song established his place in Wenger’s starting eleven before moving to Barcelona in a big money move. However, the Cameroon international could not settle at the Catalan club, and considered the option of a return to Arsenal, before being snapped up by West Ham United on loan.

Brozovic began his career at native club Hrvatski Dragovoljac where he developed his game before he was given a professional contract in 2010. After just a season at Hrvatski, the midfielder was off to Lokomotiva, where he played 33 league matches, scoring 5 goals. In 2012, Dinamo spotted potential and signed the 21-year old on a 7-year contract as a replacement for Milan Badelj, who left the club for Hamburger SV. Brozovic has made 56 league appearances for the club, scoring 9 goals in the process.
