Manchester United Looking To Sign Arsenal Target Kostas Manolas

Wenger is still looking to strengthen the defense even with Debuchy and Chambers already accounted for. After Vermaelen left, the Gunners have had a hard time finding an affordable, reliable and maybe, long term replacement. There were hopes that Olympiacos youngster Kostas Manolas would come to the Emirates before the end of the summer.  On paper it looked like an easy deal up until a few days back. According to Metro, Wenger is not the only one interested in the 23 year old’s services. Van Gaal has also started monitoring the young defender who can become an excellent replacement for either Vidic or Ferdinand.

Arsenal have the defensive line secured but would not want to miss out on such a great opportunity like the one to sign Manolas. His experience and his excellent World Cup performances point towards a bright future. It is expected that the youngster will become Greece’s next national team leader just as his uncle was a while back. With that in mind, it is also expected that the price for Manolas will increase exponentially. Set to perform in the Champions League group stages, he will surely become one of the most sought after players in Europe. Wenger who has not announced any new targets as far as the defensive line goes, will probably make a move up before the end of the transfer window. With only two weeks left to go, it is expected that Manchester United will also make a move. Both teams have a pretty great shot at signing him considering he is valued at a very reasonable £5 million.
