According to a report by the Daily Mirror, Arsenal youngster Alex Oxlade Chamberlain has been offered to West Ham United ahead of the transfer window. According to the report, the former Southampton star is surplus to requirements at Arsenal and Wenger is ready to try to sell him.

The 22 times England capped midfielder has blown both hot and cold since joining Arsenal. He has shown flashes of brilliance in the last few years, unfortunately due to injuries and his own fluctuating form he could be on the way out of Arsenal this summer and some impatient fans might think rightly so.

If there is one problem Arsenal has, it is that the club carries too many players with “potential”. Arsenal have lots of players with great potential but unfortunately not enough of them seem to fulfill their potential. Is it finally that time that Wenger accepts the fact that some players are just not good enough despite their potential and probably won’t be good enough.

Wenger’s loyalty to his players is creditable but it may be why he has found himself in the sad situation of been jeered instead of cheered by the fans. Many are calling for his sacking but we at GoonerNews.com believe the boss deserves the ultimate respect. There is however a good chance that next season could be the Frenchman’s last season at Arsenal given his age hence he wants to ensure he makes the right transfers this summer to try to give him the best chance of winning trophies

Aside from incoming players, Arsenal need to offload some deadwood to free up space on both the wage bill and squad space. It is hard to see him letting the likes of Chamberlain, Walcott, Joel Campbell, Arteta, Rosicky and Flamini depart particularly the first three mentioned but if he does move some of them on Wenger will have enough space to bring in players that could contribute to the team better.
