Is It The Kim Källström Story All Over Again?

A strange yet very possible scenario has emerged during the past days as Arsenal are apparently preparing to make a bid for Swansea’s Ki Sung-Yeung. According to the Daily Mail, Wenger has found interest in bringing in the 26 year old South Korean who moved to the Premier League back in 2012. The defensive midfielder who also played for Sunderland is under contract until 2018 but the idea of playing in the Champions League might tempt him enough to end his deal with the Swans three year in advance.

Captain of his national team, Ki Sung-Yeung is definitely not the stand-out player everyone expects at the Emirates. With names like Vidal and Schneiderlin being thrown back and forth, it is hard to find enthusiasm in a midfielder who has just started his recovery after getting knee surgery. Fans will surely remember Kim Kallstrom who came in after telling the club his is fully fit to play. He was featured in three games and was one of the biggest mistakes Arsenal made in terms of transfers even though he came on loan.

Ki Sung-Yeung might be a different story but he is still not perhaps the man to win big trophies. If Arsenal really want to challenge Chelsea for the Premier League and teams like Barcelona for the Champions League, they need to step up and continue making bids for players like Ozil and Sanchez. Vidal is currently the player to sign and might just have been accounted for if rumors that he agreed to a deal already, turn out to be true.
