Is Higuain Still A Possible Signing For Wenger?

Well many reports this week suggested that Gonzalo Higuain was on his way to Juventus with a price of £78m agreed for the 28-year-old Argentinian hitman as it seemed Napoli had signed off on the deal. As 90min.com reported the deal was further reinforced by the apparent online leak of a document which formed part of the medical undertaken by the player for the move.

However, it now seems as though the deal may not be agreed or completed as Napoli would much prefer to sell the striker abroad rather than to a direct title rival in Serie A. This has alerted the likes of French giants PSG and Arsenal as Arsene Wenger continues to maintain that the Gunners are ready to spend big in this window to strengthen the squad in the key areas. After a pre-season draw with French side Lens, Wenger was quoted as saying, “I am sure that my chief executive didn’t want to dampen the expectations on that front. We are very active. If we find the right candidates then we will spend the big money”.

Higuain scored 36 times for Napoli last term and some think he would be a good signing for Arsenal whereas others see him as over-rated especially after a so-so showing at the Copa America for his country this summer. Whatever your thinking is, Arsenal will likely have to do battle with cash rich PSG who are looking to replace the recently departed Zlatan Ibrahimovic who of course left Paris to join Arsenal’s rivals Manchester United.

What do you think should Wenger go all out for Higuain? Or should he pursue the other name heavily linked to the Gunners in the form of another Argentinian striker namely Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi?
