Hopes To Sign Welbeck Increase As Di Maria Moves Closer To Manchester United

Arsenal are lining up to snatch Manchester United’s Danny Welbeck whose hopes of becoming a team regular will drop massively if Di Maria accepts Van Gaal’s offer. According to the Daily Mail, Wenger will push for the young striker who is also being eyed by Tottenham. The Gunners are in desperate need of a third striker to compete for a place up front. Giroud is currently the only forward who can actually perform under pressure in the box but is now looking like he will be on the sidelines for 3 months due to an ankle injury. Sanogo is way too unexperienced to provide the necessary aid and competition for the Frenchman who was all alone last season.

Welbeck can be the perfect solution for Arsenal who need someone who can be both a second striker and a goal scorer. The England international is well-adapted to the Premier League and is also very eager to prove Manchester United were wrong not to use him more often. The 23 year old could cost Wenger around £15million which is not that much for a striker as good as Welbeck. His salary is also up the Gunners’ alley. He is expected to receive a £80,000/week salary which is half of what Ozil and Sanchez are currently earning and also half of what Balotelli first demanded when linked to Arsenal.

Welbeck will very likely leave just as Nani. Javier Hernandez and Anderson also have one foot out the door with Manchester looking to sell/loan some of their high earning players. Hopefully Arsenal will take advantage of this situation and sign the 23 year old who is pretty much the most tempting target currently available.
