Hodgson Decisive In Welbeck’s Transfer To Arsenal

Roy Hodgson proudly revealed he played his part in Welbeck’s revival. The 24 year old who has improved visibly since joining Arsenal would not have been a Gunner now if not for the manager’s intervention. According to Squawka.com, Wenger had not yet decided if signing a substitute would be a wise decision or not. Fortunately for all parties involved, Hodgson tilted the balance just the right way by advising Arsenal’s boss to take the risk.

Hodgson’s involvement turned out to be welcomed as Welbeck started to show his qualities at the Emirates. It appears that the English striker needed a manager just like Wenger to finally start showing what he is capable of. In one season spent in London, Welbeck has already made ¼ of the number of appearances made for United. That is a lot considering he spent 6 years at Old Trafford. Even with the 35 days spent in recovery after an injury suffered in December, he has proved quite useful for the Gunners.

Welbeck not only scores goals but he also provides competition for Giroud who since the English striker came London, has visibly increased the quality of his performance. Manchester United’s former striker who started against Newcastle on Saturday will be selected by Hodgson to represent England against Lithuania in the qualifying match for the European Championship. Hopefully he will stay away from injury and will continue growing in form.
