Heskey Urges Vardy To Stay

Former Leicester City and England striker Emile Heskey has urged Jamie Vardy not to leave the Foxes and reject a move to Arsenal. Vardy is reported to have an offer from Arsenal in the region of £100,000 a week after the north London club triggered his £20m release clause.

Heskey, who left Leicester for Liverpool, also played for 5 other clubs including his current club Bolton. However, the striker thinks Vardy should stay at the King Power and become a club legend.

He said: “I think he should stay. He’s at the age where he could really set a legacy at Leicester. Sign a four or five year deal at Leicester and really be a Leicester legend. He’s won the Premier League now, is he gonna win the league at Arsenal? At the end of the day he’s a legend at Leicester, he’s loved in the city – he loves the city as well.”

Heskey has also suggested that Arsenal’s style of play would not suit Vardy, as it is too possession based.

“The only thing is they play possession-based football and that means you’re going to have teams sitting back, so that means there’s not much space in behind. And he likes space to run into and create goals that way. So it would be very difficult for him at Arsenal.”

Heskey did, however, state that if Arsenal signed Vardy – they would be getting a great deal:”In this market, he’s probably worth more like £25m.”
