Giroud Warns France Of Ozil Threat

In form French striker Olivier Giroud has warned his countrymen the sheer threat that his fellow team mate Mesut Ozil possesses. Les Bleus are due to play Germany on Thursday ahead of their semi-final Euro 2016 clash, after they smashed Iceland 5-2 courtesy of a Giroud double and assist.

The 29-year-old has battled all season long with doubters from both Arsenal and France, but has impressed so far for his nation at the Euros. He is more than likely to lead the line against Germany, and has offered some advice to his team mates about numbing the Germans.

“Ozil is a very talented player in terms of his passing and his vision for Arsenal and for Germany,” Giroud said.

“He likes to drift between the lines so you have to keep an eye on him. We will have to stop him.”

When asked to reflect on the last time he faced Germany back in November – the same night as the terror attacks on Paris – Giroud admits it was tough to take in.

“It’s a difficult question about the game in November,” Giroud added.

“We were all very affected and upset after the game. I remember talking to Mesut about it at Arsenal. We were all shaken up. But we want to beat them. They are the best in the world. If we want to go all the way we will have to put them to one side. I believe in our ability.”

Ozil has been in relatively good for at the Euros too, despite missing 2 penalties thus far. However Giroud clearly thinks he is a big danger to his side, and will hope his defence stands strong against the midfield wizard.
