Gary Neville Cant Get His Head Round Welbeck Sale!

England international and youth product of the Red Devils, Danny Welbeck moved to Arsenal from Old Trafford in a £16 million deal on transfer deadline day. The striker will be able to play in a more central role at the Emirates and he might well profit from that.

He undoubtedly has considerably talent, which he displayed by scoring both goals for England in their 2-0 win over Switzerland on last week. The arrival of Radamel Falcao pushed Welbeck further down the pecking order, which ultimately resulted in his sale to rivals Arsenal.

However, Neville cannot fathom that decision. He has questioned United’s logic to sell Welbeck to Arsenal, and that too for just £16 million, according to talkSPORT.

He said, “I can’t work it out [why Manchester United sold Welbeck]. After all the prices I’ve seen paid this summer and, obviously I’ve been working with him the last week, I’m thinking how is it just £16million?”

“There’s been right-backs and left-backs galore who have been bought for £15million this summer. How have they got him for £16million?”

“I can’t work it out to this day, it’s a strange one. It really does feel strange that it’s a centre forward and actually it’s helped out a competitor, someone who will be vying for those third and four places with United this season. I’m struggling to understand the logic behind the deal in two or three ways really.”
