The former England international moved to AS Roma only this summer but reports in Italy suggest that boss Rudi Garcia is not happy with the defender. Cole does not fit into Garcia’s high-pressing tactics and he seemed out of sorts during Roma’s 7-1 annihilation at the hands of Bayern Munich in their Champions League encounter.

The former Arsenal full-back was substituted at half-time in that match and has subsequently been linked with a move away from the club. The 33-year-old will reportedly be available in January and he could be a shock target for Manchester United, according to Express.

The report states that Cole will jump at the chance to move back to England and Old Trafford could be his destination in the winter window. Louis van Gaal wants added competition for current first-choice left-back Luke Shaw and the chance to sign Cole, three-time Premier League champion and four-time FA Cup winner, could be too tempting to resist.
